Thinking Society Through Psychoanalysis

Boğaziçi University, İstanbul
SpeakersAlev Özkazanç · Atakan Yorulmaz · Oğuzhan Nacak
ModeratorTarık Tekinkaya

Hosted by the Philosophy Department of Boğaziçi University and coordinated by Tarık Tekinkaya, this event sets out to think society through psychoanalysis — to analyse the master's discourse by way of the analyst's discourse. Alev Özkazanç speaks on “Feminism and Psychoanalysis,” Atakan Yorulmaz on “Sexuation and Psychoanalysis,” and Oğuzhan Nacak on “Politics and Psychoanalysis.”

We take up the psychoanalytic line running from Freud to Lacan in a broad frame — alongside post-structuralist thinkers and theorists of gender and queer studies — opening these theories to discussion through clinical and social practice. Although the programme speaks to those working and reading in mental health, participation is open to all.

Lacan and Psychosis: The Logic of Madness

French Cultural Centre, İzmir
SpeakersOğuzhan Nacak · Ekin Şen

In the final İzmir meeting of Psikanaliz Sohbetleri this year we turned toward the clinic and took up psychosis — a most important phenomenon — from a psychoanalytic angle.

In psychoanalysis, the various psychopathological manifestations and the structures underlying them are seen as productions of the subject rather than as the subject's deficiencies or disorders. They are treated not as a disorder but as formations that represent an order and have a logic of their own.
